The Best Hair And Make-Up Looks Of The Oscars 2023
All the hair, makeup and nail inspiration you’ll need this awards season.
The red-carpet season is coming to an end. Of course, it should end with the most glamorous awards show of all: The Oscars 2023. Not only does one of Hollywood’s biggest nights celebrate the best of cinema, but it also serves as a great runway for the year’s most unforgettable fashion and beauty looks. Needless to say, the beauty moments on the champagne-coloured Oscars carpet did not disappoint.
Held in Los Angeles, California, the 95th Academy Awards was set to be one of the biggest shows in Oscar history and, of course, the celebrities were more than up to the task. From Rihanna to Jessica Chastain, a host of stars closed the awards season in style with their memorable style statements. We’re talking about classic updos, red lips galore, and callbacks to old Hollywood glamour on our favourite stars. This season, the biggest beauty trend to emerge was updos of all shapes and fashions. Sofia Carson hit the carpet with a sculpted Old Hollywood style, which had a touch of Audrey Hepburn glamour or Cara Delevingne’s sleek knots at the nape of her neck. Lady Gaga brought gothic glamour to the red carpet with her fiery red lips and smoky Wednesday Adams-style eyes. And Rihanna, her belly and combination of red lips with a chic updo stole the show.
As always, there were several odes to old Hollywood glamour with the beauty trends that resurfaced on this iconic night. So, go ahead and discover the best hair, nails and makeup looks from the Oscars 2023 red carpet.
FLORENCE PUGH
We can always count on Florence Pugh to bring modern style to an award show red carpet, and tonight was no exception. For tonight’s Oscars, Pugh looked absolutely gorgeous, and makeup artist Alex Babsky used all Valentino Beauty products to create her soft and glamorous beauty look. She wore a cascading ponytail adorned with a velvet bow and a full updo. The black velvet bow adds a nice finishing touch to the artful hairstyle.
ASHLEY GRAHAM
Ashley Graham went for a sleek and shiny beauty look for Oscar night 2023. For the ceremony, the model wore a twisted bun with side bangs styled by stylist Mashal Afzalzada using only Living Proof products. Makeup was done by celebrity makeup artist Ivan Nunez, who used Revlon products. Describing the look, Nunez said, “We wanted to go for a classic Hollywood glamour look with a twist – I was really inspired by the crisp graphic lines of the dress! So I gave it a beautiful, crisp, smoky eyeliner.”
RIHANNA
Fresh off her Super Bowl appearance, Rihanna walked the champagne carpet with her signature glamour. To create a glamorous yet effortless look, Fenty Beauty global makeup artist Priscilla Ono created the perfect base for the star by combining a subtle cat eye, matte red lips and a gloss that lit from within. The singer, who performed at tonight’s ceremony, paired her makeup with a spiky chignon.
CARA DELEVINGNE
The perfect complement to the actress and model’s custom Elie Saab gown was a sleek chignon and pops of berry-pink eyeshadow and lipstick. She opted for a tonal dusky rouge palette to carry over onto her eyeshadow and lip.
SOFIA CARSON
Sofia Carson brought the “Princess” vibes to the carpet as she wore a sleek French roll chignon and equally bold brows and a cat-eye eyeliner. She had her classic makeup done by makeup artist Karan Mitchell using Valentino Beauty products.
LADY GAGA
Lady Gaga looked so amazing on the red carpet, wearing an incredible all-black Versace gown. To complement her look, she also wore a stunning ‘80s-inspired smokey eyes makeup look, using products from her iconic beauty brand Haus Lab. Her hair look done by hairstylist Frederic Aspiras was also stunning.
JESSICA CHASTAIN
You don’t need to wear much else when wearing an Old Hollywood hair look paired with siren-red Charlotte Tilbury lips.
