MAYFAIR MAGAZINE: Thank you for taking the time to talk with us, Anna. Please tell us, how did you get into fashion and modeling?
ANNA MELNYK:
I started my modeling journey at the age of 14 in a modeling school in Ukraine. I always had a fascination with fashion, and that early training gave me the foundation to step into the industry. A scout discovered me and invited me to a casting for Next Models, opening many doors. Later, IMG Worldwide took notice, and my career truly took off.. It was a journey of dedication, resilience, and a deep love for the art of modeling.

MAYFAIR MAGAZINE: That sounds like an incredible start! Taking things back to the very beginning, tell us how it all materialized for you.
ANNA MELNYK:
It all began with a dream, but the reality was shaped by countless hours of practice, discipline, and perseverance. When I joined my first modeling school, I was just a girl with passion, but over time, I learned the techniques, the confidence, and the poise needed to stand out. The moment I stepped onto my first real casting, I knew this was the path I wanted to pursue.

M.M: What was your first photoshoot like? Could you share the experience with us?
A.M.: My first professional photoshoot was a whirlwind of emotions—excitement, nervousness, and the thrill of stepping into a world I had always admired. I remember being in awe of the team, the set, the energy of it all. That shoot taught me so much about angles, expressions, and storytelling through fashion. It was the first of many unforgettable moments.

M.M: Was there a specific moment when everything just clicked? At what point did you start to feel natural in front of the camera?
A.M.: The turning point for me was when I stopped trying to be “perfect” and started embracing my uniqueness. Modeling is not just about looking good in front of the camera; it’s about embodying emotions, narratives, and energy. Once I understood that, my confidence soared, and I felt truly at home in front of the lens.

M.M: Gaining that confidence must have been a game-changer! Please, tell us, what do you like the most about modeling?
A.M.: I love the transformative nature of modeling. One day, you’re embodying timeless elegance in haute couture, and the next, you’re part of a bold, avant-garde vision. The ability to tell stories, inspire emotions, and work with brilliant creatives is what keeps me passionate about this industry.

M.M: It must be amazing to collaborate with so many creative minds! Which photographer or designer do you most like working with and why?
A.M.: Every photographer and designer brings something unique to the table, but I particularly love working with those who push boundaries and see fashion as an art form. Visionaries who capture raw emotion and authenticity always leave a lasting impression on me.

M.M: Working with great talents must lead to some unforgettable moments! What has been your favorite moment working in high fashion so far?
A.M.: Walking my first major runway show was an electrifying moment. The adrenaline, the lights, the sheer artistry—it was a surreal experience that solidified my love for the industry. Every show, every shoot, every collaboration add to the journey, and I cherish each one.

M.M: What are your career highlights so far?
A.M.: Being noticed by Next Models and later by IMG Worldwide was a pivotal moment. Walking major runways, appearing in editorial spreads, and working with globally renowned brands have been incredible highlights. But beyond the glamour, my biggest achievement is proving to myself that persistence and passion always lead to success.

M.M: How does fashion play a role in self-expression for you?
A.M.: Fashion is a language without words. It allows me to channel different sides of myself—strong, ethereal, rebellious, sophisticated. Every outfit, every pose, every moment in front of the camera is a form of storytelling.

M.M: That’s good to know! Also, please, tell us, who would you say is your style icon?

A.M.: As for my style icon, I’d have to say I’m drawn to timeless figures like Natalia Vodianova and Irina Shayk. I admire how they constantly reinvent themselves while keeping that authentic edge. At the same time, I’m just as inspired by everyday people who turn fashion into a bold and fearless way to express themselves.

M.M: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received recently?
A.M.: “Perfection is an illusion. Own who you are, and the world will follow.” This reminder has helped me embrace my individuality rather than chase unrealistic standards.

M.M: What’s the wisest lesson you’ve learned being in the industry?
A.M.: Resilience is key. The industry is tough, but those who stay true to themselves and keep pushing forward are the ones who succeed.

M.M: Looking back on your journey as a fashion model, what advice would you give aspiring models who are just starting their careers?
A.M.: Believe in yourself, develop your unique presence, and never stop learning. The industry is always evolving, and those who stay adaptable while maintaining their authenticity go the furthest.

M.M: How do you balance your modeling career with other aspects of your life, such as education and advocacy work?
A.M.: Balance comes from setting clear priorities. Modeling is a huge part of my life, but I also prioritize personal growth, mental well-being, and giving back. Finding time for self-care and meaningful pursuits keeps me grounded.

M.M: Do you have any exciting projects coming up that you can tell us about?
A.M.: Yes! I’m currently working on some exciting campaigns that I can’t reveal just yet, but they involve collaborations with incredibly talented designers. Stay tuned!

M.M: It’s inspiring to see you involved in such impactful projects! Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A.M.: I see myself continuing to grow in the industry, perhaps branching into new creative fields like fashion direction or philanthropy. I want to use my platform to inspire and empower others.

M.M: How do you like to spend your time outside of modelling?
A.M.: I love traveling, reading, and spending time with loved ones. Exploring different cultures and perspectives always fuels my creativity.

M.M: What are you most looking forward to right now?
A.M.: The next big adventure—whether it’s a runway, a photoshoot, or a new personal milestone. Life in this industry is ever-changing, and I embrace every new chapter.

M.M: Three words that describe your best self are…
A.M.: Resilient. Passionate. Fearless.

M.M: Thank you for this interview, Anna. It’s been a pleasure hearing about your story.

A.M.: Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your kind words and support. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my story.
