The 5 Key Trends for Spring 2023 From the Haute Couture Week in Paris
From metallic fabrics to dramatic necklines, these are some of the most popular fashion trends from the Spring/Summer 2023 Haute Couture runways.
The runway season provided us with some of the best moments in the history of fashion and beauty. Whether it’s metallic fabrics, statement jewellery or extravagant silhouettes, fashion week always has a reason to be trendy. And the spring/summer 2023 couture shows in Paris were no different.
This season, collections exuded all the glamour and opulence from fashion houses as we saw labels Dior, Schiaparelli, and Giorgio Armani, as well as the return to the runway of designers like Haider Ackermann, with his Haute Couture collection for Jean Paul Gaultier and Casey Cadwallader for Mugler, betting all on fashion statements and emphasizing the trends for the upcoming season. Detailed rhinestones, metallic fabrics, plunging and exaggerated necklines, and of course, animals, either as prints or with realistic heads took centre stage, as we saw at Schiaparelli.
For spring 2023, Dior’s Maria Grazia Chiuri honoured Josephine Baker with her collection, while Georges Hobeika added bird and equine appliqués on elegant evening gowns for spring 2023. In addition, for Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli brought together two worlds that rarely collide: haute couture and disco. “Haute couture becomes an emblem of uniqueness, personality, identity and character, and an evocation of the purest human joy of dressing up and dressing down,” the designer said of the concept of bringing haute couture to the clubs.
Immediately following a Paris Men’s Fashion Week full of innovation and sensuality, haute couture was a whirlwind of trends that were more than eye-catching and that we will surely soon see implemented on the catwalks, by fashion obsessives and even by celebrities, who are our greatest source of inspiration when it comes to dressing.
