Awards season is still a few days away, but some of our expectations are already beginning to crystallise. Every year, the Governors Awards, held by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has provided a hint about who could be the nominees for the Oscars.

While the ceremony itself is fairly low profile, the red carpet for the event has become one of the first major stops on the award show circuit, and those in attendance provide a good sign for what’s to come.

“The Governors Awards is an annual event celebrating awards conferred by the Academy’s Board of Governors – the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and the Honorary Award.” This year’s award gala honoured actor Michael J. Fox, songwriter Dianne Warren, and filmmakers Euzhan Palcy and Peter Weir at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City.

During the 13th edition of the Governors awards, we could also see our favourite actors attending the prestigious ceremony and wearing their most incredible ensembles on the red carpet. Attendees included Florence Pugh, Cate Blanchett, Austin Butler, and many more. They stepped out for the glamorous night, hinting at the trends we can expect in the upcoming awards season. From sheer style, and cut-outs to embroidery, and lustrous designs, check out some of the celebs’ best-dressed from the red carpet.
